I have thick and long (a.k.a. heavy!) hair, so I thought these large pins would work well, and they do, for the most part. I'm using them to secure a bun, or an updo. The size is great--they are longer than other pins I've tried. Also love the wavy shape; the fact that the zig zags nearly touch in the middle is what helps them stay put. They do take some practice to use (especially if you have slippery hair like I do, you'll have to insert them at different angles and use multiple pins, since the the pins are smooth and can gradually start to slip out over time, if you don't secure them properly or use lots of hairspray, which I don't like to do (toxic). (P.S. I'm not sure if it's possible to make a pin with a more textured finish so it would have more "grab" on the hair, but it would be great if that existed.) Regardless, these are some of the best hair pins I've ever tried!!
