I thought these ties would be traditional elastics; solid pieces. They're actually hollow, not solid, and they curl up and LOOK like they're closed solid elastics. You can flatten the tie against your finger and it'll spread itself open.
Initially I wondered if they'd work as well as a solid elastic, or, if I'd be disappointed. Let me tell you that this version of a hair tie offers the same holding power as the closed, solid tie, and, it doesn't create as much pressure on my head as the traditional ties do. I'm not going back to the traditional closed tie ever again. I now prefer these!!
